We do not expect any new recruit to instantly have a
complete "kit". For most of us, it took a couple of
years to assemble exactly what we wanted and needed. As new
recruits, each of us borrowed what we didn't have and asked for
advice from older reenactors about what we should buy next and from
whom.
Having said that, the most important
things a new recruit can buy are a gun and a pair of shoes. Everything
else can be easily borrowed until you are able to purchase your own.
